Get to Know the 2018 Granicus Summit Speakers
It’s the end of February, and things are getting busy—and exciting—here at Granicus. In just a little over a month, we’re hosting the 2018 Granicus Summit in Washington, D.C. We hope you’ll be able to join us!
The Granicus Summit will bring together some of the sharpest minds in the public sector for a day of networking, demonstration sessions and lessons in how government can lead through digital modernization. Not sure yet if you want to attend? Below we’re including a sampling of the people you can expect to share their stories on April 3.
Mitchell B. Weiss, Professor of Management Practice at Harvard Business School
Mitchell is our keynote speaker and a professor at the Harvard Business School teaching courses on Public Entrepreneurship. He was previously chief of staff to Boston Mayor Thomas Menino, where he helped shape innovation strategy. Expect his speech to touch on the current state of digital in the public sector, the challenges faced in innovating and how government can move forward as it works better serve the modern citizen.
Britney Smith, Public Information and Communications Manager at Leon County, Florida
How do you protect the citizens you serve when a hurricane is barreling toward your county? In Britney Smith’s case, it was developing a way to make sure Leon County residents were as informed about the storm and its aftermath as possible. When crisis strikes, having an emergency communications plan in place saves lives. Learn more about the plan and how you can develop one of your own during the session she’ll be in: “Re-Thinking Citizen-Centered Communications.”
Stephen Schatz, Communications Director at Maryland DNR
Lauren Mitchell, Visual Communications Specialist at Maryland DNR
Increasing subscribers by over 1,300 percent while decreasing costs seems like it would be wholly unattainable. But that’s exactly what the communication team at the Maryland Department of Natural Resources did after switching to GovDelivery Communications Cloud. During “Maximizing the Benefits of Public Sector Channel Shift,” Stephen and Lauren will talk about how embracing digitalization allowed them to rethink their strategy, increase engagement with their customers and improve relationships with other government agencies.
Anh Tran, Deputy City Clerk at City of San Jose
Technology can help the public sector work more efficiently, more green and more democratically. Anh learned this firsthand in her job at one of the largest municipalities in the United States. San Jose was able to utilize digital modernization to streamline its citizen board process, which eliminated nearly all physical paper (and accompanied storage of said paper), freed up 60 extra people hours and attracted more applicants from a more diverse pool in less time. That’s a win-win-win. Anh is speaking during our “Transformed Access to Services: Innovation in Community Engagement” panel.
The above speakers are just a sampling of what’s to come—we’ll be teasing more as we get closer to the event date. If you’re interested in joining us for the premier public sector event of the year, we encourage you to register today!
