Apple Unveils The Latest iPad Pro with Phenomenal Features Including XDR Display And M1 Chip

Apple just unveiled the most strong and advanced iPad Pro to date, breaking the boundaries of what is possible on an iPad. The inclusion of the Apple-designed M1 chip boosts performance significantly, making the iPad Pro the fastest computer of its kind. The new Liquid Retina XDR display on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro adds incredible dynamic range to the iPad Pro, providing a breathtaking visual experience with more true-to-life details to the most challenging HDR workflows. Cellular models with 5G offer even better wireless networking when on the go, and the iPad Pro now features Thunderbolt support to provide users with pro-level throughput for high-speed accessories.
Also, an all-new Ultra Wide front camera allows Center Stage, a new innovation that keeps users perfectly framed for even more engaging video calls. The new iPad Pro is available for pre-order on apple.com starting Friday, April 30 and will be available in the second half of May.

Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, Greg Joswiak stated, “The revolutionary M1 chip has been a breakthrough for the Mac, and we’re incredibly excited to bring it to iPad Pro. With M1’s huge jump in performance, a groundbreaking extreme dynamic range experience on the 12.9-inch Liquid Retina XDR display, up to 2TB of high-speed storage, Thunderbolt expansion, a four-speaker audio system, pro cameras with LiDAR Scanner, blazing-fast 5G connectivity, an amazing video-calling experience with Center Stage — combined with the advanced features of iPadOS and a powerful pro app ecosystem all in a device users can hold in one hand — there’s nothing else like iPad Pro.”

iPad Pro and the Mighty M1 Chip

The revolutionary M1 chip elevates the iPad Pro's industry-leading success to a whole new level. The 8-core CPU architecture incorporates the world's fastest CPU cores in low-power silicon, providing up to 50% better CPU speed than the A12Z Bionic. The 8-core GPU is in a league of its own, providing up to 40% faster GPU efficiency. The iPad Pro's combination of CPU and graphics output extends its lead as the fastest computer of its kind.
Powerful custom innovations, such as a next-generation 16-core Apple Neural Engine, an advanced image signal processor (ISP), a single, high-bandwidth memory architecture with up to 16GB of memory, 2x faster storage, and up to 2TB speed, make the iPad Pro more versatile than ever before. M1's industry-leading power efficiency allows all of that impressive performance as well as all-day battery life in the iPad Pro's small and light design. Since M1 shares the same fundamental architecture as A-series chips, iPadOS is already designed to fully exploit the powerful technologies in M1 to manage anything from basic navigation to the most challenging workflows.

12.9-inch Stunning Liquid Retina XDR Display

The latest Liquid Retina XDR monitor brings the Pro Display XDR's stunning front-of-screen output to the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. The Liquid Retina XDR display provides up to 1000 nits of full-screen brightness, 1600 nits of peak brightness, and a remarkable 1 million-to-1 contrast ratio to improve innovative workflows. It is engineered with a revolutionary cutting-edge mini-LED architecture that uses over 10,000 LEDs around the entire back of the display. The end result is a breathtaking visual experience that captures the brightest highlights and the most subtle nuances in even the darkest pictures, reflecting what can be seen in real life.
Creative professionals, such as photographers, videographers, and filmmakers, can now view and edit true-to-life HDR content on a huge portable monitor. Other advanced technologies found in the 11-inch iPad Pro, such as ProMotion, True Tone, and P3 large color support, are included in the latest Liquid Retina XDR monitor, providing an unrivaled mobile cinematic viewing experience for HDR and Dolby Vision content.

More Power with 5G Network

Customers on the go will do even more with improved output and access to next-generation download and upload speeds, which is ideal for higher-quality video streaming, real-time collaboration, or FaceTime in high definition, now that 5G is available on the iPad Pro. Users can stay creative and efficient by connecting to a safe, quick network, which eliminates the need to link to public Wi-Fi hotspots. With the most 5G bands of any computer of its kind, the iPad Pro has the most comprehensive 5G coverage worldwide. In the United States, iPad Pro models support millimeter wave, a higher frequency variant of 5G that allows the iPad Pro to achieve speeds of up to 4Gbps. The iPad Pro also supports eSIM, making it easy to connect to a network and sign up for a 5G data plan on the spot.

Thunderbolt Support

With Thunderbolt and USB 4 support, the USB-C port on the iPad Pro is the fastest and most powerful port ever on an iPad, with 4x more bandwidth for wired connections — up to 40Gbps — than the previous iPad Pro. Thunderbolt supports 10Gbps Ethernet and enables a vast ecosystem of high-performance accessories, such as faster external storage and even higher quality external displays, such as the Pro Monitor XDR at maximum 6K resolution, all of which are connected via high-performance cables and docks. With more peripherals support than ever before, the iPad Pro now integrates even more smoothly into innovative workflows.

Center Stage Provides a Fresh, More Engaging Video Call Experience

The TrueDepth camera system on the iPad Pro includes an all-new 12MP Ultra Wide front camera built specifically for iPad, allowing Center Stage, a new video call experience. Center Stage recognizes and keeps users focused on the picture by using the much wider field of view on the current front camera and the machine learning capabilities of M1. Center Stage automatically pans to hold users in the shot as they step about. When others join in, the camera senses them as well and seamlessly zooms out to fit everyone in and ensure they are a part of the discussion. So, whether it's an online presentation or attending a virtual family reunion, the process of interacting is more engaging than ever.

More iPad Pro Features

The ISP and Neural Engine in M1 unleash even more power from the pro camera system, adding Smart HDR 3 support to the iPad Pro for the first time. In low-light settings, the ISP and LiDAR Scanner focus images and videos easily and reliably, capturing amazing imagery with almost no light at all.

2. The Magic Keyboard, which features backlit keys, an integrated trackpad, and a floating design for a relaxing typing experience, is now available in a stunning new White color.

3. iPadOS 14.5, which will be available to iPad customers next week, includes new features such as extended language support for Apple Pencil features such as Scribble and Smart Selection, new emoji, support for the latest gaming controllers, and the ability to share lyrics and see top songs in cities around the world through Apple Music.
