New OnePlus 8 "Ice Blue" color and 65W Super Warp Charging has been released in Android 11 beta
OnePlus introduced the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro back in April the latest smartphones from the brand engineered to compete with the top-end premium flagships on the market. OnePlus offered the two devices at the launch in a variety of colours, including Glacial Green, Onyx Black, Interstellar Glow, Ultramarine Blue and Polar Silver. OnePlus may therefore seem to have another color in the works. In addition, more proof shows that OnePlus is working on an even faster version of its Warp Charge 30 technology.
Lavin Amarnani, a Twitter user, found a few new strings in OnePlus' Technology Mode software that the company uses for hardware checking. If you're familiar with this app, it's because it's pre-installed on every single OnePlus phone. The app made the news in late 2017 when it was discovered that a simple intention to elevate the rights of the ADB shell process to standard user levels could be formed.
New Ice Blue Color?
The Engineering Mode app which is available in the latest OxygenOS builds of Android 10 and Android 11 contains a list of device colors as follows:
<string name="str_sm8250_color0_title">Onyx Black</string>
<string name="str_sm8250_color1_title">Glacial Green</string>
<string name="str_sm8250_color2_title">Interstellar Glow</string>
<string name="str_sm8250_color3_title">Ultramarine Blue</string>
<string name="str_sm8250_color4_title">Ice Blue</string>
The first 4 colors in this series were all published, but as far as we can say the "Ice Blue" one has not. Interestingly, this chart excludes the Verizon-exclusive Polar Silver color. As the first 4 colors listed in this list all suit the marketing names of color variants of the OnePlus 8 series, it is possible that "Ice Blue" would end up being the marketing name of a potential color variant for a smartphone of the OnePlus 8 series. We don't ask, however, whether both the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro would be released in "Ice Blue" or either one of them. This is conceivable that "Ice Blue" may be the exclusive color for a release of a potential carrier.
65W Super Warp Recharge
The OnePlus 8 Pro supports fast charging via wireless 30W and wired 30W. OnePlus unveiled the OnePlus 6 T McLaren Version with its 30W wired charging system. A page of TÜV Rheinland qualification announced early last month that OnePlus is working on a quick charging solution with 65W. This function is now verified for OnePlus 8 in the new edition of the Android 11 beta's Engineering Mode app.
OnePlus' Warp Charge 30 charges the technology at 5V/6A while the new Super Warp Charge 65 of OnePlus probably charges at 10V/6.5A. It would allow the next OnePlus handset, possibly the OnePlus 8 T, to charge even faster than the OnePlus 8 or 8 Pro. OnePlus could opt to launch this function on a different OnePlus 8 edition, but they have recently ended their relationship with McLaren, so it's unclear whether we're going to see new OnePlus phones with unique hardware models again.
65W Super Warp charging is expected to be centered behind OPPO's 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 and Realme's 65W SuperDart charging on the same platform. Future OnePlus devices would definitely provide a dual-cell battery with this charging system, much as on the OPPO Find X2 and Realme X50 Pro. There are reasonable fears that such fast charging will deteriorate the battery 's lifespan and also that there is a 2 percent reduction of performance during the phone's daily service by definition of how the dual-battery system is set up.
