Achievement of Federal Security Milestone Illustrates Cloud Provider’s Ongoing Commitment to the Industry’s Most Rigorous Security Standards
ST. PAUL, Minn. – March 28, 2016 – GovDelivery, the leading provider of cloud-based solutions enhancing the citizen experience, today announced that the GovDelivery Communications Cloud platform has achieved Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) compliance at the moderate level. This follows an intensive FedRAMP Joint Authorization Board (JAB) review and approval, which provides wider coverage for easier use by agencies. JAB authorization is widely recognized as the most demanding path to FedRAMP compliance.
GovDelivery’s cloud-based digital communication platform – which is already used by hundreds of federal organizations, including FEMA, the Department of Defense, the Department of Veteran’s Affairs, and Health and Human Services – can now be used across all agencies with this new certification. All agencies using GovDelivery benefit automatically from this high level of verified security. In addition, GovDelivery now offers additional support packages for those agencies where security and compliance is a high priority.
“Having met all the stringent security requirements of the FedRAMP Joint Authorization Board, comprised of the CIOs of the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security and the General Services Administration, GovDelivery is now a FedRAMP compliant cloud service able to be authorized for use across all federal agencies,” said FedRAMP Director Matt Goodrich. “GovDelivery is already used widely across Federal government so the FedRAMP JAB authorization will streamline ongoing security approvals for many agencies. In addition, our team here at FedRAMP will be using GovDelivery to communicate with stakeholders.”
FedRAMP is a government-wide program that provides a standardized approach to security assessment, authorization and continuous monitoring for cloud products and services. This framework saves time and staff required to conduct redundant agency security assessments. Being FedRAMP compliant means a cloud computing system has established and documented a highly secure environment that has withstood comprehensive, rigorous review before federal agencies are authorized to engage the system. According to @FedRAMP, in the last six months, the program has saved the government $70 million and increased cloud usage by 41 percent.
“Given our ongoing prioritization of security, we’re pleased to be recognized for meeting the industry’s most rigorous security standards,” said Scott Burns, CEO of GovDelivery. “As the Federal government continues to close the gap between its private market counterparts by delivering the quick, convenient and rewarding digital interactions that citizens have become accustomed to, they begin to face the inherent risks associated with that innovation. GovDelivery has always stayed ahead of the curve to mitigate that risk and we’re proud to be FedRAMP compliant so that our digital communications platform can help public sector organizations connect even more citizens with the resources and information they need.”
The GovDelivery Communication Cloud is the only digital communications platform helping government to inform, engage, and convert more than 100 million people to take action. Unlike private sector marketing technology, the GovDelivery Communications Cloud is the only platform secure enough to be used exclusively by government and proven to double audiences within the first year. This FedRAMP certification builds upon GovDelivery’s historical focus on security which includes receiving ISO 27001 certification, being an OMB sponsored max.gov integrator, United Kingdom’s G-Cloud IL2 accreditation, and ATO (authority to operate) from the most demanding government agencies across the globe (from Department of Defense to National Institute of Standards and Technology).
GovDelivery understands the critical importance of its solutions and has architected its systems to be secure and highly available. The company utilizes multiple data centers, extensive redundancy, and best of breed technology from internationally recognized vendors. GovDelivery has embedded security best-practices across the organization, ensuring that security and reliability are an integral part of development and quality assurance.
All agencies using GovDelivery benefit automatically from this high level of verified security. In addition, GovDelivery now offers additional support packages for those agencies where security and compliance is a high priority.
