Huawei Mate X2 to arrive with an inside folding display
Previously, Huawei has released two folding smartphones-Mate X and Mate Xs-which come with folding outdoor displays. Yet the Mate X2 is going to be special, because it is claimed to have an inward folding display.
News comes from Ross Young, who is the Chairman and Chief Analyst of DisplaySearch and DSCC. In response to a tweet by the trustworthy leaker Evan Blass, Young reported that Mate X2 will have an inward folding display coming by Samsung and BOE. And it's not going to be the UTG type, but the CPI instead.
This is not the first time that we have seen a folding smartphone from Huawei with an inward folding panel, as the Chinese tech giant submitted a patent for this feature with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) back in January.
The drawings presented by Huawei to EUIPO showed that the folding smartphone would have a stylus slot and will have a total of six cameras-four at the back and two at the front, located on the vertical sidebar, which is also home to the secondary display. You can test the photos below to get a better understanding of the style.
Circling back to Blass' tweet, the leaker revealed the names of Huawei 's forthcoming devices along with their code names in his article. The Mate X2 is Teton, while the new model Nova and the Y9a are Jessica / Barbie and Franklin, respectively.
There are wearables, too. Freebuds Pro is named Mermaid while the Watch Fit is named Stia.
